Focus Group

Our group organized a focus group which included 5 girls and 5 boys (ages 16-21). We did this so that we would get a reliable response and get an understanding on what our target audience like/dislike.

Our video was most popular with females in the 13-17 and the 18-24 year old group, but on the other hand it was most popular with males ages 45-54.
We asked our focus group a few questions about what they felt about the music video and if they felt there could be any improvements.

We asked our focus group several questions including:

Q: Did you understand the music video?
A: A few people didn’t understand the narrative but the majority understood it.
Q: Would you watch the video again?
A: Everyone said that they would watch the video again because they found it interesting.
Q: Does the video make you want to buy the song?
A: All members of the focus group said that they would buy the song and many of them commented on how good the song was. This was obviously a very positive thing to hear since that was the aim of our video, to advertise the song.

  1. Hello,

Focus groups are planned discussions designed to elicit specific information, thoughts, or opinions from a targeted group of people. Whether you are planning your own focus group discussion or for a sponsor, it is very important to be clear about what you want the focus groups to accomplish. This will guide the development of your focus group questions. Thank you...
